Stern SAM PowerDriver Board Lamp Columns Inop - Driver Replaced
Video
Summary
Chris Hibler repairs a Stern SAM power driver board by replacing a failed VN5160 lamp-column driver chip.
Chris Hibler walks through repairing a Stern SAM power driver board on his bench, driven by a White Star Harley-Davidson MPU board. He replaces a failed lamp-matrix driver chip (believed to be a VN5160, which replaced the obsolete VN02 column drivers), restores inoperative columns five and six, and verifies coils, rows and flash lamp circuits. He also tightens the voltage regulator ground hardware, replaces a 15-pin connector, and notes the high-voltage AC connection that must be attached or no coils will fire.
