NIght Moves by International Concepts System 80B MPU Weird Lockup Issue - Solved - Failed U6
Summary
Hibler repairs an IC Night Moves System 80B MPU lockup, isolating a stuck IRQ fault with a Quick Scan 80 and a tip from Jerry Claus.
Chris Hibler walks through repairing an International Concepts Night Moves MPU and driver board that locked up when the driver board was attached. With help from Jerry Claus, he used a Quick Scan 80 diagnostic to isolate the fault to a stuck-low IRQ line tied to the 6532 RAM/IO/timer chips, then ran the full test suite to confirm the board was functioning. The video is a technical repair walkthrough rather than industry news.
NIght Moves by International Concepts System 80B MPU Weird Lockup Issue - Solved - Failed U6 After I made this video I realized that I had not mentioned which chip actually failed. The culprit was U6, the 6532 RIOT that drives solenoids. This is the first time in many, many years of System 80 board repair that I have seen U6 fail.
