episode 34 Heat Wave

Tim Cooley hosts a roundtable discussion on The Spinner Is Lit Pinball Podcast (September 19, 2020) covering recent pinball industry news. The hosts discuss Stern's newly released Avengers machine (designed by Keith Elwin with innovative mechanics like the Soul Gem mode with limited flips), compare it favorably to the movie-themed Avengers, and debate whether Premium or Pro editions will sell better. They also extensively discuss Deep Root Pinball upcoming announcement of Raza (Retro Atomic Zombie Adventureland Land) on Monday, expressing skepticism about founder Robert Mueller's repeated claims of doing things 'better, faster, cheaper' without yet delivering concrete details on pricing and features. The conversation touches on personnel changes (John Popadiuk/John Popadiuk at Deep Root, designer departures) and Deep Root Pinball historical mismanagement, while acknowledging the value of having multiple pinball manufacturers despite their challenges.
