The Pinball Show Ep 121 Part 2: From BUY Now! To CRY Now! #crycrycry
The Pinball Show
1 hr 23 min
Summary
Bond 60th Anniversary layout praised, art direction harshly criticized; topper exclusivity controversy explained.
The Pinball Show hosts discuss Keith Elwin design of the James Bond 007 60th Anniversary pinball machine, covering gameplay mechanics (inline drop targets, spinning disc, four opto spinners, figure-eight shot), design philosophy (drainy but fair, no lane change), and production timeline (targeting late January/early February release). The episode heavily critiques the game's art direction and backglass design, calling it potentially "the ugliest pinball machine ever created" due to mismatched movie poster fonts, poor composition, and licensor-driven constraints. A controversy regarding exclusive topper marketing is discussed, where Stern's use of "exclusive" in promotional material caused dealer/collector confusion about topper availability across game tiers.
