From the creator

Dave had an interesting phone call from Hollywood. He is on a road trip fixing pins. He is everywhere! What’s up Doc? Is Dave Hollywood bound? Recorded in early April just before the Keith Elwin...

Highlights

  • ITV America casting department contacted Dave to be an on-camera restoration expert for Pawn Stars Do America, unpaid position with potential Boston-area filming
  • The TV segment would require finding and restoring a 1990s pinball machine within a two-week window
  • Production company asked about vaccination status and masking requirements; Dave declined to answer and cited being 'mask exempt'
  • ITV America is a production company that created Pawn Stars for History Channel and produces content for Netflix and other platforms
  • Chicago Gaming's next pinball game will be War of the Worlds, not Centaur or another named classic
  • Stern released a $1,699 topper accessory for Rush pinball game approximately one year after game's release
  • A programmable MPU board called Lizzy/Arduino is being discussed on Pinside by an unnamed prominent community figure
  • Allentown pinball event will feature a mix of classic and modern machines, with organizer Levi seeking more modern titles

Notable quotes

They would find potential pinball restorations. Our team is looking for something like that for people to bring to us. We want to do a pinball machine in one of these shows in one of these cities. We want to do it in Boston, have a pinball item brought in.
Justin Nichols (ITV America, quoted by Dr. Dave)
I said, well, it has to be very specific what you look for then. You only can throw by me any 1990s pins. 1990s pins, any ramp games like that, I can get that turned around. If I kick butt three days straight, in two weeks, I could definitely turn around.
Dr. Dave
The biggest thing feathering your cap is going to be as seen on Pawn Stars. I said, well, that's great, but I already have as seen on Chronicle and NBC Boston and the Heritage Journal and Middlesex News. Where were you 20 years ago?
Dr. Dave
And then he said, yeah, and can I get your vaccination status? I said, I am really not comfortable talking about that. That's my own personal medical information.
Dr. Dave
I haven't taken – I haven't done any – I haven't bent over for anything for the past three years. I'm not bending over now.
Dr. Dave
War of the Worlds. Boring. Who cares? I'm not impressed... as long as you're not using images, it's an open license. You can talk about it right but you can't use that image.
Dr. Dave
So the game's out a year. Instead of it being available right when the game comes out, you guys string this crap out for another year.
Dr. Dave (re: Stern's Rush topper accessory)
You're not going to believe this one. Okay. This is a personal animal story from about 40 years ago.
