Video

Summary

Pinball Shenanigans Ep. 12: Getaway restoration progresses cosmetically but the game still won't start, MPU repair pending.

Mike Dymus of Pinball Shenanigans continues restoring an Allied Leisure Getaway pinball machine in Episode 12. He replaces a fried knocker coil circuit, sorts out backglass bulbs, and cleans the cabinet, but the game still fails to start and most switches are intermittent or dead. He ends the episode considering sending the MPU board to repair specialist John Robertson of John's Jukes in BC.

From the creator

The Allied Leisure Getaway restoration continues, and somehow this machine is looking better and working worse. 😂 In Episode 12, I finally bust out the back glass and get it installed—which is a pretty exciting milestone. I also install a new knocker solenoid and bracket, plus some custom-made apron cards that turned out absolutely killer. Cosmetically, this machine is really starting to look the part. Mechanically and electronically? **Complete dumpster fire.** 🔥😂 Every time I turn this thing on, I swear it finds a new way to make my life miserable. The cosmetics are getting better and better, while the actual functionality seems to be heading in completely the opposite direction. And of course, I'm not alone in this battle. **Ellie the cat** decides to lend a paw and help with the restoration. Well… sort of. 😂 She mostly just wants to chill, hang out, and do everything possible to stall operations. Apparently, supervising from a comfortable position is an important part of pinball restoration. At this point, I'm struggling, fighting, troubleshooting, getting distracted by cats, and generally banging my head against the wall trying to get this thing to actually **PLAY.** But I refuse to let this stupid machine win. So the battle continues!
