Summary
Johnny Modica profile: tournament grind, COVID survival, and the legend of the Monica Plague.
Jeff Teolis interviews Johnny Modica, a prolific tournament pinball player known for high event participation, extensive travel, and colorful community stories. The episode covers Johnny's COVID-19 experience in April 2020 (mild case), his girlfriend Emanuela's stricter quarantine in Italy, his tournament philosophy emphasizing consistency and experience over ranking points, his relationships with top California players Keith Elwin and Karl DeAngelo, and the origin of Carl's "Monica Plague" card from Critical Hit: a humorous reference to Johnny infecting Papa 19 attendees with flu in 2016.
Plague, Covid-19...bring on your worst. Johnny has had it all and lived to tell about it. Plus he's managed to play pretty good pinball over the years.
