How's the new JJP i/O board flippers feel? Princess Bride impressions by Multimorphic. Jaws?...and lets discuss the heavily rumored upcoming Stern games shall we?! Support the show:...

Highlights

  • Jersey Jack Pinball has released a new flipper board that solves the mushy/sluggish control issues in older JJP games, priced at $399 USD
  • The new flipper board is available for Dialed In, The Hobbit, and The Pirates
  • Multimorphic has announced Princess Bride with three trim levels: Standard ($11,500), Limited ($12,750), Collector's ($13,750); Limited edition limited to 750 units, Collector's to 500
  • Multimorphic trim level differences between Standard, Limited, and Collector's editions are cosmetic only (art, toppers, translites, custom buttons, plaques): no gameplay or playfield differences
  • Four Stern games are rumored: Metallica, John Wick, Pokémon, and X-Men 97
  • The rumored Metallica game is on Spike 3 platform and is not a one-to-one remake but a reworked/reimagined version
  • Chicago Gaming Company's initial remakes (Attack from Mars, Medieval Madness) had noticeable flipper lag compared to originals
  • Andrew (Patreon responder) reports that Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory was greatly improved with the new flipper board and has been running beta code since 2022
  • William (Patreon responder) reports that Dialed In gained 'real snap' after installing the new flipper board in an arcade

Notable quotes

If the control of the game you're playing is of non-issue then you can play the game and you're not thinking about it. That's what makes it great.
Jason
$400 to fix the main problem for me in... most, if not all Jersey Jack Pinball games, aside from maybe too much multiball sometimes, count me in.
Jason
The game has greatly improved just with that change. Very approachable game but has reasonably deep rules. I keep finding new minor modes.
Andrew (Patreon)
I just want to buy it from the company, and just plug it in the way it's intended... I'm an overthinker, but certain things I just don't foray into tinkering.
Jason
I'm here to play a game. As long as it doesn't look like Poxies or adhesive, I'm in. $11,500 for the standard or jump up to $13,750 for the collector's edition, not even a second hesitation I would get the standard edition.
Jason
The standard edition is nice and simple. It's like the Jaws like, eh, okay. Yeah, looks great... you're not getting gameplay or playfield differences full stop.
Jason
I'm close to thinking that it's my... it's easily my favorite... four pieces of a pepperoni pizza. Not quite stuffed but close.
Jason
If Metallica is that, which it's rumored not to be, if it is just a remake that is spiced up, it's probably my most exciting list on this list of four.
Jason
The video on the screen never ceases to impress me. It just seems like the way pinball should be moving. I'm so surprised that not more people have done this aside from little screens here or there.
Jason
X-Men 97 I hope is not just a rethemed of that because there's a couple things in that game specifically... the ball auto falling into that scoop a lot.
Jason
